Apex follows the theory of progression devised by Sijo Bruce Lee and Guro Dan Inosanto in that level is merely a reflection of hard work and skill and not a goal in and of itself. The levels are:

| Tan: | Phase I, Level 3 |

Apprentice Instructor is a teacher who regularly conducts classes, but under a syllabus developed by a Full or Senior Instructor.
Associate Instructor is a teacher who develops a syllabus with the approval of a Full or Senior Instructor.
Full Instructor is a teacher who develops his/her own syllabus.
Senior Instructor is a teacher who is encouraged to develop his own curriculum.
The criteria for testing are both objective and subjective. The objective component is the number of hours the student has trained at Apex. The second component is subjective: does your instructor think you are ready to test?
